What is my "father's" problem? He is the one who hasn't seen me in 17 years?

So, a month ago my mom informed me that my biological father wanted to talk to me/ have dinner. I told my mom I didn't want to go, but she told me she'll get me a car if I agree to it and pretend I'm having a great time. So, I went and pretended to care about him and his life. At the end of dinner he asked if we could do this again, and I said no. I also told him the only reason why I'm even here is because I'm getting a car out of it. He freaked out and called me a whore. He made a complete scene in the restaurant. It was so bad that the manager asked him to leave. He also left me at the restaurant by myself, so I had a taxi to bring me home. He is now calling my home phone and leaving apologetic messages. I just want to be left alone. What is his problem?
