My dog was leashed when another dog attacked and the man interviened resulting in his hand cut am i at fault?

a dog attacked my staffordshire bull terrier but when my dog got loose from the dogs grip and bit the other dog the owner interviend and suffered a cut hand can i be prosecuted for this i was very apologetic the owner acknowledged he was at fault but i think he will call the police can i get into trouble thanks
